Augmented Reality is a fairly new medium, which invites creators to push boundaries further than ever been seen. AR continues to grow at exponential speed, we are looking at ways to elevate the AR community. Focusing on ways to design AR experiences to help them become more accessible to a wider range of people, overall making people feel better.
Within the AR sector, though the community may be small right now, we need to consider that different people have different responses to AR effects, how can we work as a community to make everyone's first AR experience a positive one. We have put together a few tips that can be used as a guideline, to reduce some of the common challenges, and frustrations with AR experiences:

Design for all
A great place to start and good practice would be to make sure you design for all types of users, regardless of age and ability. The uses of augmented reality are still unfolding, but as we know it, there should be a thin line between the real world and the augmented world. Try keeping things simple and fun. This way we ensure that the experience is not only user friendly but a positive memorable one.

Focus on Value
Everyone has their own ideas, about what AR experiences should consist of, what they should look and feel like. You may commonly hear expectations of real photo rendering 3d virtual objects, similar to VR, though AR is still in its baby stage still design with things moving forward in mind. A rule of thumb would be always to push a little further. How can AR bring your audience closer to a brand, story or lesson.

Help users understand AR quickly
As AR is new to so many people, they often don't have a reference point of how it works, and how to interact with the medium. The best way people learn about quickly is to keep things short and sweet, with snippets of its capabilities. The more user friendly effects on social media, the more versed people will become. Try avoid burdening users with to many technical details or operations to interact with AR.
Allow people to Experiment without Fear
If your a designer, or someone looking to implement AR into your business, we suggest designing experiences that allow people to try things freely, without restrictions. Create ways that they can easily return to their previous step if they feel they might have made a mistake.
We hope this guide gives you the inspiration to push on creating. The immersive industry is truly fun and growing with speed.
